The excitement of securing admissions into your dream university, the uncertainty of the results and the weight of expectations can be overwhelming. This article gives you an insight into what your SAT score could mean, its implications and the potential paths that await, regardless of the results.
How Long Does It Take To Get SAT Scores
SAT is conducted by the College Board. SAT scores are typically released within 2 weeks of the test date.
However, depending on whether you took the paper-based or digital SAT and the test date, there could be some variations from 2 to 4 weeks in their release dates. Here’s a general timeline –
- Digital SAT – Digital SAT scores are typically released within 13-14 days after the test date. For example, if you took the test on a Saturday, expect the result two weeks later on Friday on the College Board website.
- Paper-based SAT – Paper-based SAT scores are typically released within 3-4 weeks after the test date. This means if you took the test on a weekday in school, you will receive the results 3-4 weeks later in school and the school counsellor will pass it on to you.

You can find the exact score release dates for specific test dates on the College Board website. To give you a fair idea, listed below are the weekend test dates and result dates from Fall 2024.

Not Received Your Score Yet?
The scores are usually staggered on the release day for millions of people to access them smoothly. Please note that SAT score releases may not be simultaneous for all test-takers, even those who took the exam on the same day. All scores are usually available online at 8 PM ET on the release day.
