What Is The ACT Test?
Colleges use the ACT for admissions and scholarship decisions, assessing students' readiness for college. The ACT consists of four multiple-choice sections—English, Math, Reading, and Science—and an optional Writing section.
It features 215 questions and scores range from 1-36, except the Writing section which scores from 2-12. The test is offered nationwide 7 times a year, with some high schools providing it during school hours.

How Is The ACT Score Calculated?
First, the ACT tallies up all the correct responses in each section. It’s essential to understand that the ACT does not subtract points for wrong answers. Thus, guessing carries no risk. Ensure you select an answer for every question.
Subsequently, the ACT transforms these raw scores into scaled scores, which are then utilized to determine your overall composite score. The scoring can differ depending on the particular test administered.
The composite score represents the average of your scores from the four sections, rounded to the closest whole number. Colleges only receive this composite score along with the individual section scores from the tests you choose to submit.
